ACCESSIBILITY – Easy Read Guide

Before You Visit

•          You don’t need to worry about pre-booking tickets online, they are purchased on site during your visit.

•          The museum is quieter in the early mornings and late afternoons.

•          Please note some activity on site maybe noisy, including tank drives located outside

•          You are welcome to bring any suitable comfort items, including; ear defenders, mobility aids, or communication devices.

Getting Here

•          Blue Badge parking is close to the entrance, we have a ramp towards the museum entrance for easy access.

•          Buses and taxis can drop you off nearby. If you would like advice on local bus routes please get in touch.

Arriving

•          The entrance has step‑free access.

Inside the Museum

•          You can use your own wheelchair or mobility aid. A small number may be borrowed.

•          There are seats and rest areas around the Museum, if more are required for your group please get in touch ahead of your visit.

•          There are multiple accessible toilets.

•          Assistance dogs are welcome. Water bowls and toilet areas are also provided outside in our sheltered kennels.

Sensory & Neurodiversity Support

•          You can ask for a quiet space at any time, we have a private meeting room which can be made available. Please ask at the reception / shop.

Food, Drink & Medication

•          The café has different food options, if you would like to see our menu in advance of your visit please get in touch.

•          You can bring your own food if needed for medical or sensory reasons. Please note other food / snacks will not be allowed unless consumed outside.

•          Ask staff at the cafe for any allergen information or concerns.

Carers & Companions

•          Carers can use all seating, rest areas, and accessible toilets.
