The Yeomanry Room

The remarkable history of the Suffolk and Norfolk Yeomanry is displayed in this room. From the raising of the Norfolk Rangers in 1782, founded by Viscount Townshend of Raynham, to the present No. 202 Battery based at Swaffham.

On display are examples of the actual guns used by the Regiment, including the 2pdr Anti-Tank gun and the Bofors gun etc.. The 2pdr Anti-Tank gun is very rare, few examples remain in the UK.

The visitor's attention is especially drawn to some of the fine early uniforms, helmets and regimental banners, the first of which dates from the reign of George III.
