First established in 1936 as a base for the Target Towing Aircraft, whose task it was to operate with the Army Anti-Aircraft Gunnery practice group at Weybourne. It was listed as the smallest airfield in the Royal Air Force.

A pilot's view of the Airstrip

The main strip is 80 feet above sea level and is approximately half a mile in length from North to South.
A shorter strip running from East to West is 425 yards long. Details are given in "Pooley's Flying Guide of the United Kingdom",
"Lockyear's Farm Strips" and "Private Airfields of England and Wales".

A small landing fee should be paid when signing in at the airfield and the entrance fee if visiting the museum.
