The Central Hall
The Central Hall now contains a fine display of Armoured Cars and Troop Carriers.
Wherever you turn in this particular Hall there is a different type of vehicle dedicated to moving of Troops and their equipment to the front line. There are the Alvis family of Armoured vehicles represented by the Saladin, Stalwart and Saracen. The Saladin Armoured Car took 2 years to rebuild in the Museum workshops.

Of special interest is the "Unimog",
a vehicle used by the Irish Army in the Congo in a peace keeping role.
Fitted with a Daimler Benz engine and complete with a Bazooka, it is very similar to those
captured in Kuwait by the Iraqi forces during the 1990 Gulf War.
Also on display in this Hall is the huge "Diamond T 969A Wrecker" Tank Transporter, in fact it's so big that it spans two halls and it is in full working order.
